How big are the safes?
The external dimensions are 7 7/8" H x 17" W x 16 ¼" D. The internal dimensions are 7 ¾" H x 16½" W x 12" D.

Do you have other sizes of safes available?
This is the only model currently available for universities.

Will my laptop fit in the safe?
Probably. Most laptops fit in our safe. Some laptops have to be inserted at an angle to clear the door opening. If the dimensions of your laptop do not exceed 13" W x 12" D x 2" H (the door opening is smaller than the safe cavity), your laptop will most likely fit.

We're sorry, but refunds will not be given for laptops that do not fit, so be sure to carefully measure your laptop before ordering the safe. Remember: even if your laptop does not fit, you can still store many other important items in the safe.

Where are the safes installed in the room? Can I change the location of my safe once it is installed in my room?
This is determined by each university in coordination with our installers, but it is typically installed in the closet or wardrobe space. The safes cannot be moved.

What happens if I rent a safe and decide to change rooms? Will the safe be moved?
The safe WILL NOT be moved. If a safe is not already installed in the new room, a partial refund will be issued if SafeDecisions is notified in writing within 10 days of the move.

How do I open the safe?
You must register and pay a yearly rental fee to receive the unlock code. You may rent your safe by clicking the RENT YOUR SAFE button or by calling our customer support number 1-800-SAFEDEC (800-723-3332), option 4.

If you have already rented the safe, you must register the safe to obtain your unlock code using our website – click the ACTIVATE YOUR SAFE button - or call our customer support number at 1-800-SAFEDEC (800-723-3332).

How do I begin using the safe after I move in?
When you arrive on campus, there will be a flyer on the safe with instructions for registering and opening the safe. You may register your safe now by clicking the ACTIVATE YOUR SAFE button or by calling our customer support number 1-800-SAFEDEC (800-723-3332). You will enter the username and password you chose when setting up your account as well as the serial number located on the front door of the safe. You will receive a one-time code, which will unlock the safe. Once the safe is unlocked, you should select your own private 4-digit PIN code for locking and unlocking the safe.

How do I get the open code to unlock the safe?
If you have paid the rental fee but have not moved in yet, you should follow the registration procedure attached to your safe at move-in time.

If you have paid the rental fee and have already moved in, locate the flyer on the safe and follow the instructions for registering and opening the safe. You may activate your safe now by clicking the ACTIVATE YOUR SAFE button or by calling our customer support number at 1-800-SAFEDEC (800-723-3332).

You will need to login with the username and password you chose when setting up your account and enter the serial number located on the front door of the safe. You will receive a one-time code that will unlock the safe. Once the safe is unlocked, you should select your own private, 4-digit PIN code for locking and unlocking the safe.

The safe was installed in the wrong closet. Can you move it?
Beds and closets are not assigned to a particular student. Whichever student has rented the safe for the year is the student that will use the closet with the safe installed in it. Our rental agreement states this. It is not possible for our installers to move the safes.

There isn't a safe installed in my room. Can I have one installed?
Some schools only have safes installed in CERTAIN HALLS, so there may not be a safe installed for every bed on campus. Typically there is one safe per bed in each room of the fully installed HALLS. SAFES CANNOT BE MOVED OR INSTALLED ONCE THE SCHOOL YEAR HAS BEGUN.

I rented a safe this summer, but there is not a safe in my room,
Some of our schools do not have safes installed in every room. If you do not have a safe in your room, we will issue you a full refund. Please contact our Denver office at 1-800-723-3332, option 5.

If there isn't a safe in my room, can I buy one?
Yes, you can purchase a safe and take the safe with you to school. However, you will not be able to bolt the safe to any school property. If you wish to purchase a safe, please call 1-800-SAFEDEC (1-800-723-3332) Option 2. The purchase price for a safe for a student is $399.00, including shipping, plus any applicable sales tax.

There is a safe in my room, but I did not order it and do not want it. Can you remove it?
Safes are standard features and cannot be removed once installed in accordance with university policy.

Can I share a safe with my roommate?
That is your decision, but you will be required to share the same 4-digit PIN code to open and lock the safe.

Be advised that the student who rents the safe will be held responsible for any damage to the safe. Your roommate will not be authorized to obtain emergency unlock services from SafeDecisions in the event the safe is locked and will not open. Only the person that establishes the rental account will be authorized to obtain emergency unlock services.

I tried to rent one of your safes, but the website did not list my school,
We appreciate your interest in renting our safes. If there is a safe already installed in your room, you should contact the SafeDecisions Denver office (1-800-723-3332, option 5) to rent the safe.

If there isn't a safe installed in your room, we apologize, but it will not be possible to rent a safe for the school year.

Is the safe removed at the end of the year? What do I do at the end of the year if I rent a safe?
The safes are not removed at the end of the year. Simply remove your belongings and leave the safe locked at the end of the year.

What is your REFUND POLICY?
Rental fees are refunded (on a pro-rated basis) only when a student moves from the room or unit in which the safe is located. Refunds are not available for a student who moves to another room that has a safe installed. Refunds are not issued for laptops that do not fit, please measure carefully. SafeDecisions may consider a refund of a portion of the rental fees in such hardship situations on a case-by-case basis in its sole discretion. For a refund request to be considered, the student must inform SafeDecisions of any room changes or room withdrawals, in writing, within 10 days. Verification of room changes or withdrawals is required prior to issuance of the refund. The student will be required to return the refund request form and the safe must be relocked in the presence of the student before a refund is issued.

Refunds are prorated on a monthly basis over a 9-month period. Partial use during a month is considered one month's rental.

Can I cancel my order?
Refunds will only be given if you withdraw from school or move to a room that does not have a safe installed as noted in our refund policy. Refund requests must be made within 10 days of a room change or room withdrawal. All refunds are handled through the Denver office at 1-800-723-3332, option 5.
